Too much blood!

Joe hospital 003Joe hospital 001This was not an easy day around here for any of us. I honestly thought we were going to loose Joe Joe.

Word started flowing in from the men about 9:15 this morning that Joe was on the Columbus side of the bridge laying in a pool of blood. Rumors began to swirl like a tornado in the spring.

I looked out across the bridge and saw an ambulance and police cars and felt better knowing that he was being checked out. I was busy with about 20 others inside and had no way to break away.

The pictures depict some what of what we found a couple of hours later. Joe was in bad shape. Lora and Missy saw him first and gave a report that his hair was full of blood, also his shirt. Lora threw away his shirt.  Freddie arrived at the hospital after I helped him change his clothes. I threw his pants into the trash can as well. He only had a gash over his eye but nobody knows how long he laid where he was… bleeding!

Thank God the sun came up and some of the fellas called for help.

He didn’t want stitches so I told him he WAS going to have stitches. It’s the only way you can win against them when they want to be hard headed and argumentative.

We brought him back to the church and he slept all day. He’s very weak from the loss of blood. I wonder what in the world these guys would do sometime. If Joe was released and we weren’t there he would be left to walk wherever he had to go. Being in the high 90’s today and in the condition he was in he would have passed out. Homeless don’t get the luxury of food or I.V’s in the hospital. They ck you out, stop the blood and say “You can go now”. That’s it.

Anyhow I tried to get him to eat something and he just has no appetite. We couldn’t send him to the streets tonight when we closed up and were afraid he might fall if we left him inside so Lora took him home with her. I asked her to make sure she got some food in him. Lora’s got a heart of gold when it comes to people that need help.

After that all settled down I saw Tim come and sit at the doors of the office. I just sat there at my desk and watched him. He is so pitiful. I could tell he didn’t feel good and at one time I saw him fold his hands and bow his head. He was praying so I let him be for a few minutes.

As I said it was a hot day so I let him come inside and I fixed him something to eat. He overslept this morning and missed breakfast. He looses his balance very easily. The whites of his eyes are blood red. If anyone that’s reading this knows what this might be please respond.

It’s not pink eye, this is blood in the white part. He still is feeling weak and faint. Again I try to make sure he eats at least one good meal a day. He’s getting better about it himself.

We had a fantastic addiction recovery meeting this evening. Seems like we might have to move into a bigger room. We are barely fitting into the kitchen anymore. Word is getting out into the streets and other places as well that God is doing something unique at WVM. Our men tell everyone about our church. We meet people all the time that have heard what we’re doing and drop by to see it for themselves. God Is Good!

Then of course the one’s that talk badly about us also have people coming to see if what they’ve heard is true. They only laugh about what they heard and end up staying. What the devil means for evil God surely does turn it around for HIS good!

OK… Another day awaits us here at World Vision Ministries. Maybe tomorrow we won’t have to go to the hospital. We’re very well known at the Medical Center. That my dear readers is a very good thing!
