My Kitten

Call me nuts but I have another mouth to feed. My new kitten Windslow! has become a member of our family. One of the guys on the streets adopted a cat from the streets and she gave birth to kittens. When I saw the kittens I told the guys that I wanted one of them when they were old enough to be given away. Thus… I picked one out.

I have almost come to physical blows for this kitten. A couple months ago when Windslow was just  a few days old. Her or his eyes weren’t even open yet and Donald from the streets came walking into the church for breakfast holding my kitten. He told me he couldn’t find any of the other kittens and the mother was gone. LIKE an idiot I believed him. Donald lies “ALL” the time and I should have cked it out/ However I was scared for the kitten.

I took the kitten at the time and I told Donald I wasn’t going to let the kitten die. If I had to I was going to feed it myself.

When Don went to leave he took the kitten from me. I told him in a very “NOT” nice way to give me back the kitten. I would take care of it. He just told me no! Then it dawned on me that he lied and the mother cat was back at the mens camp. I was furious that he was swinging this poor kitten around in his hand. My kitten!

Well Donald took off towards the bridge withe MY kitten and I jumped on my bike and chased him down. STILL he wouldn’t give me the kitten when I caught up with him so I went back to the church and got Missys husband who is a police officer in Columbus to come help me.

Finally after a lot of arguing he gave me the kitten.  To Make a very long stroy short…The kitten went back to the mother two months ago and I went and got him last week. He now is old enough to be ours.

Donald and I have made up since all of this mess. He was mad at me for a few weeks. It wasn’t the first time we have argued but not over a poor little kitten. Everything worked out… Most of the time it does. I went through a lot for my kitty. Oh did I mention that Tom popped Donald good in the eye for what he did.

Tom is mother cats adoptive parent. I thanked Tom! For the kitten and the punch. Laws of the streets… don’t mess with momma Jaye or kittens.

  1. AWW YOUR KITTY IS SO CUTE AND BLESSED TO HAVE A GOOD HOME AND FAMILY. LORA’S KITTY IS SO CUTE TOO. I GAVE IT A BATH A FEW DAYS AGO TO GET RID OF ALL THE FLEAS. IT REALLY DID NOT LIKE IT. BUT NOW IT DONT HAVE FLEAS. SO IT HAS TO FEEL ALOT BETTER NOW. NOW BLOW DRYING WAS REALLY A TASK. BUT DID NOT WANT HER TO GET SICK. SHE GOT 1 SCRACH ON ME BUT THATS OK WELL WORTH IT. I ALSO ENDED UP WITH A LIL KITTEN AS WELL! LOL I WAS OUT SIDE MY HOUSE AND HEARD A KITTEN SCREAMING. SHE WAS TRAPED UNDER A PILE OF LIMBS I HAD BY THE ROAD TO BE PICKED UP. I HAD TO MOVE ALL THE LIMBS TO GET HER. SHE WAS ALL WET AND DIRTY AND HAD LOTS OF FLEAS. SO STRAIGHT TO THE BATH SHE WENT. NOW SHE HAS NO FLEAS AND SHE IS WELL AND HAPPY. MY GROWN MALE CAT TAKES CARE OF HER LIKE HE IS HER MOTHER. CLEANS HER EARS AND EVEN HER BOTTOM. SHE HAS TO BE EVERY WHERE HE IS. KATIE NAMED HER CUP CAKE! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW KITTEN!
    GOD BLESS!

  3. I guess my earlier comment didn’t make it. I’m happy to hear about Windslow and am wondering how his siblings are doing. Did they find homes too??

  4. Hi kitten friends… yes Chris as you can see from the other comment Lora adopted one. A couple that stay at the men’s camp are keeping one, they soon will have a place of their own so there is only one left. These guys will take good care of it if it never gets a home. We do have to work on getting these critters fixed however. The jobs I seem to have fall into my lap are sometimes what you may say… “different? As for my kitten he has attacked my legs to the point we have made a rule. We no longer play with Windslow with our feet or hands. ONLY toys. I have to break him from thinking he can just pounce on us as we walk across the floor. Freddie seems to be the only one he’ll behave for. Maybe because he was raised by men. Pray we all make it before he has to move to the outdoors. I’m still slowly getting him use to our other cat. This IS going to take some time. Maggie runs and then hisses everytime she see’s the kitten. They’ll work it out. The dogs are another story. They raised Maggie and won’t hurt cats however Windslow is scared to death of them. This too may take even longer. What a job!!!!

  5. Check to see if you have a PAWS group in your area. They offer low or no cost spay and neutering. It’s really important for the outdoor ones to be de-flea’d soon-they can get really sick from flea bites. They probably have ear mites too-that can get serious if it goes untreated. Mineral oil drops will really help-you don’t need to buy the vet’s medicine unless they get infected ears. One of my cats had ear mites that went undetected and he started peeing all over the house. We thought that he was sick-he was around 10 at the time. It was just severe ear mites (and the other cats didn’t have them!). We got him treated and he hasn’t been bad in the house since that very day. Wish we had room in our house for one more…
