Preparing to say “Goodbye Tim”

OUR Tim!

After putting it off for 5 days, today Missy and I went to Tim’s camp to clean it out and to also see if he had anything for his family to have if they so choose to take.

Yesterday I mentioned on my Facebook page how I love my job. Today when Missy and I drove away I mentioned to Missy that I didn’t like my job too much today. She agreed.

I tried my best to go through his tent but because of the smell it was impossible.  After several minutes and tries I looked at Missy and mentioned the smell. Through tears she only said “It’s the smell of death.”

Her words clobbered me. Since Tim died I am having a very hard time connecting death to Tim. As I attempted to clean his tent I never thought about him dieing in there. For whatever reason I ran with the thought that he was sick in the tent and died some place out.

I have never cleaned up a place where someone had died and after Missy said what she said reality came down mighty hard.

Folks I have never in my life or ministry ever thought I would have to do what I and Missy had to do today. Some people go out of the country to do missionary work. I just step out the door. It is difficult, painful yet very needful. If we don’t stay in the game at any cost then we have failed not only the living but as we’re finding out  just this year alone  that for those that have died cost a lot as well.  What it does to our hearts is at times unbelievable.

Tomorrow is our memorial service for Tim at 1:00. I believe I have set up the church in a fashion that Boone would find acceptable. Many will be there and as soon as time permits I will post something about the moment we mourned Tim as one!

I love him no doubt, however I share that same love with so many others.

  2. There is a special place in heaven for these people knowing you have helped each and every one of them get thru those times in life when they needed a friend. I wish there was enough money in the world to give them a shelter but knowing you had to go thru the deathbed of a dear friend is so sad.
I pray for you all at the ministry and the family he had there as well as the family he really didn’t know.
Thank God that Tim is at home with him and all of the friends that went before him.
There is a special place in heaven for you and your team! Love ya!

  3. What a difficult day it was for you and Missy. When you think of everything you need to do following a death, this isn’t one of them. You’re both brave and the best friends that Tim could ever hope to have. He was a lucky man to have you two in his life.
